Pam Holland, who taught at the International Quilt Festival 2010 in Chicago last month, put together a presentation on The Quilt Show about the Festival.  She starts out kind of hokey, but then shows some of the great quilts at the show.

“Layers: Unfolding the Stories of Chester County Quilts #3” is on exhibit now through September 11, 2010.  This is the third and final installation of Chester County community owned quilts that are on view.

About 50 quilts are in the exhibit “Layers:  Unfolding the Stories of Chester County Quilts #3”  of  West Chester, Pennsylvania.

International Quilt Association’s New Study “Quilting in America” Released

The International Quilt Association in Houston, Texas, has the results of a new study about quilt making today.   Interesting to read.

“Quilting enthusiasts spend almost $3.6 billion annually on their passion, proof that the vibrant art of quilting is both alive and thriving in the United States, even in the face of the recent economic challenges all across the country.   According to the just-released Quilting in America2010 survey, enthusiasts’ spending has increased by 9% since the release of the last survey results in 2006,” is what the study shows.

“Nancy Crow Recent & New Work”, will be at the Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center, 205 Genessee Street, in Auburn New York, from May 29 – August 15, 2010.  More than fifty quilts will be shown.

Machine Quilter’s Showcase May 12 – 15, 2010, Overland Park Convention Center, Kansas City

The Machine Quilter’s Showcase is  this week at the Overland Park Convention Center in Kansas City.  Dates are May 12 – 15, 2010.

I will be appraising quilts at the show, both hanging quilts and those brought in.  I hope to see you there!

Kantha Quilts of Bengal at Philadelphia Museum of Art Now Through July 25, 2010. Photos Also Online

Kantha quilts which are embroidered, from  Bengal (Bangladesh and India), are on exhibit now through July 25, 2010, at the Philadelphia Museum of Art in the Spain Gallery of the Perelman Building.  The collection  quilts are from the second half of the 19th Century.  You can see photos of 43 of them online  at this location:
