EXHIBITION SHOWCASES INDIANA TEXTILE ART
Exploring the Surface, an exhibition of more than 30 works of textile art, will be on
display November 28 to December 24, 2011, at the Indiana Humanities facility, 1500 N. Delaware Street, in Indianapolis.
The Exploring the Surface collection of members of Studio Art Quilters Associates and Surface Design Association showcases a broad range of textile and surface-design techniques, including dyeing, painting, stamping, screen-printing, piecing, quilting and decorative stitching, embroidery, beading, and polymer-clay and wire embellishments.
I have two pieces in the exhibit, “A Peaceful Place” and “The Portal.”
Come to our reception, which is scheduled for 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, December 9, when the public will have opportunity to meet many of the artists and discuss their work. The exhibition is also available for viewing weekdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Honolulu Academy of Arts is planning an exhibition of Hawaiian quilts from their collection, to open sometime in March 2012. This is a rare opportunity to see, in person, those quilts so often published in books and magazines on Hawaiian quilts.

The Hawaii Quilt Guild meets on the fourth Monday of the month. Their annual quilt show is in May.

The Alliance for American Quilts “2011: Alliances: People, Patterns, Passion” Quilt Auction on Ebay Now through December 12, 2011

Yesterday, November 14. 2011 and running through December 12, 2011, the 16″ by 16″ entries in The Alliance for American Quilts “2011: Alliances: People, Patterns, Passion” contest are be auctioned off on Ebay.

All proceeds support the AAQ and its projects.  The bidding for each quilt will start at $50 and each auction will run for 7-days.

“Patience to Raise the Sun: Art Quilts from Haiti and Their Power to Change Women’s Lives” on Exhibit Through 2011

Patience to Raise the Sun: Art Quilts from Haiti and Their Power to Change Women’s Lives will be on exhibit through the end of 2011 at New England Quilt Museum. These are quilts made by women in seven communities in Haiti to support their families.  The exhibition will run through the end of the year.
