Kent State University Museum has a civil war exhibit: “On the Home Front: Civil War Fashions and Domestic Life” now through August 26, 2012, which commemorates the 150th anniversary of the Civil War.
The exhibit includes garments of the time as well as accessories, photos, decorative art, women’s magazines, and Elizabeth Keckley’s Mary Todd Lincoln quilt that she made from leftover fabrics from Mary Todd Lincoln’s dresses.
Elizabeth Keckley was a former slave who was Mrs. Lincoln’s dressmaker, and Mrs. Keckley became Mrs. Lincoln’s confidant.
