Virginia Avery, Pioneer in the Quilt Making Revival

September 9, 2012

Virginia Avery passed away on September 6, 2012, just shy of her one hundredth birthday.  She was a pioneer in the quilt making revival that began in the seventies.  Jinny was internationally known for her quilts and wearable art; she was also an accomplished jazz pianist–her band played on the Today Show and for UN delegates.

There  is a web portrait of  her in video interviews and mini-documentary. You can also see photos of her quilts. http://www.allianceforamericanquilts.org/treasures/main.php?id=5-16-1
