Online Photos of Quilts from World War I

September 30, 2012

Sue Reich,  quilt historian and AQS quilt appraiser colleague, has completed her blog about World War I quilts.

Sue Reich’s  blog entry is  http://www.coveringquilthistory.com/quilts-of-world-war-i.php

There are  info and photos of some of the quilts from that period.

She said that  The Centennial Memorial  of the “Great War” is upon us.   These quilts are humble, scarce and very special.

Dated Xmas 1918, this wool quilt is typical of quilts made during World War I. Wool was a popular textile choice in quiltmaking in the early 20th Century.  Photo is Sue Reich’s.
