“Seasonal Palette” Exhibit at National Quilt Museum, Paducah, Kentucky, through December 3, 2013

October 28, 2013

“Seasonal Palette” is a SAQA juried exhibit that I saw in Cincinnati, Ohio, last Spring at the International Quilt Festival.  I fell in love with the awesome exhibit! Currently it is showing at the National Quilt Museum in Paducah, Kentucky  through December 3, 2013.
It’s a celebration of the seasons from the Studio Art Quilt Associates (SAQA). This exhibit showcases the work of 37  artists. These 37 works, all sized at 78″ tall and 32″ wide, create an exhibit that moves us through the seasons using texture, light, color and masterful design. Visitors can enjoy the richness of the personal connection to the artist through their documented experiences located at the center of the exhibit. It was the addition of the documented work that was so exciting to my friend and me, as we looked at one piece, then went to the table with the notebooks, samples, etcetera, that the artist had made for her piece.  Then on to the next quilt on the wall…back to the table to investigate “How did she do that?”  “Ohhhh…”

SAQA even has a book surprisingly called “Seasonal Palette” with photos of the pieces in the exhibit.  I had to have one.
