Celebrating California’s State Parks with Quilts

Cris Rohn Hartman (challenge co-coordinator) has a Smilebox slide show of the California State Park Quilts – 2014 challenge.  A “challenge” was issued to create a quilt depicting a California State Park to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the California State Parks in 2014, and one hundred fifty-six quilts were made. The special exhibit  “Celebrating California’s State Parks” celebrates  two hundred seventy-eight  state parks in California.

New Exhibit at New Britain Museum of American Art:
Let Me Quilt One More Day on through January 4, 2015.

A new exhibit that recently opened at the New Britain Museum of American Art, New Britain, Connecticut,Let Me Quilt One More Day, showcases a history of the artistic practices, reinterpretations, and innovations of quilting.

Curated by Dr. Douglas Hyland, this exhibit brings together an extraordinary selection of over 40 historical and contemporary quilts ranging from traditional to modern designs and demonstrating both the practical application and artistic range found in this medium.

“Quilts from the Heartland” Show, Bloomington, Indiana, November 7 & 8, 2014, Bloomington Convention Center

The Bloomington Quilter’s Guild of Bloomington, Indiana, is having their triennial  quilt show “Quilts from the Heartland” November 7 and 8, 2014, at the Bloomington Convention Center.  Hours are 9 -6 on Friday and 9 – 5 on Saturday.

More than 200 quilts will be on exhibit at the show and there is an opportunity quilt, treasure shop, vendors, demonstations, and quilt appraisals that will be done on Saturday by American Quilter’s Society certified appraiser of quilted textiles, Caryl Schuetz.  Appointments can be made for appraisals and walk-ins are welcome.
