I am located in Indiana.
I am an appraiser of quilted textiles, certified by The American Quilter’s Society, and past president of the Professional Association of Appraisers – Quilted Textiles. I love antique quilts, new traditional as well as art quilts.
I lecture and do presentations for groups: museums, historical societies, ladies’ groups, and quilt guilds. I teach quilt making, fabric dyeing, and other workshops for quilt guilds and groups, Quilt Quarters Shop, and at the Indianapolis Art Center.
My first book, Fabulous Tee Shirt Quilts, has been published and is available for purchase at your local quilt shop or on Amazon.com.
I have a studio in the woods with a view of the woods all around me, my haven… Here is where I can be creative and work creatively…..what I need to do. I am also a quilt maker, making art quilts as well as antique reproduction and traditional quilts.
With the woods, wildlife: birds, deer, coyotes, racoons, possoms, squirrels, wildflowers, insects, toads, frogs, turtles, etc. and the four seasons, I always find inspiration.
The company of my dogs, cats, and parrots is also inspirational.

/ May 1, 2011Hi Caryl, Is this blog new? The name is somehow familiar. Maybe the layout has changed? Anyway, I stumbled upon it [again?] today and am amazed at all your links. It is so hard to keep up with all that is going on in the quilt world today but you blog seems a nice central location for a lot of info. Can anyone post a news notice? I see The Quilters Hall of Fame doesn’t have a post about their upcoming induction of Ardis and Robert James into the Hall of Fame which will be taking place in Marion, Indiana July 14-16, 2011. How would they go about adding this? I’d like to let them know about it for I do their blog for them http://thequiltershalloffame.blogspot.com/
Thank you,

/ May 22, 2011Hi Karen,
I began the blog in October of 2009, I think.
I’ll say “almost anyone” can send me info, and, if it’s appropriate for the blog, and is about quilts only, then I’ll post it.
