Annie Helmericks-Louder – “The Dinner Guest”

Eleven animal-themed quilts give voice to Louder’s concerns about the environment and humanity’s stewardship of the earth. Her Outlaw Animal series spotlights “varmints” like armadillos and rattlesnakes, and her Side by Side series celebrates animal visitors to her rural home.

Dialogues: Contemporary Responses to Marie Webster Quilts will be at Indianapolis Museum of Art in Indianapolis, Indiana, from June 23 – September 4, 2016

SAQA members from eight midwestern states will be exhibiting their quilts in this regional exhibition juried by Niloo Paydar, Curator of Textiles and Fashion Arts at the Indianapolis Museum of Art in the Bret Waller Gallery. It has been organized in conjunction with the IMA’s exhibition of A Joy Forever: Marie Webster Quilts.  The curators are Kate Lenkowsky and Niloo.

Exhibitions in the Bret Waller Gallery do not require general admission, but there is an admission cost to see the Marie Webster exhibit.

Opening Reception: June 23, 2016 from 4-4:30 p.m.

The Quilters Hall of Fame will be hosting their 2016 celebration on July 14-16, in Marion, Indiana. They’ve selected a master fiber artist, exhibitor, curator, author, researcher, quilt historian, mentor, ground breaker and former aerospace engineer as their inductee. Yes, that’s just one person. Did you guess who it is?
